Student affairs division (Students Office) of Shanghai Maritime University is a functional department for school Party committee and administrative department to perform student education, management and service, with Students' Ideological Education Office, Student Management Office, Dormitory Management Office, the Admissions Office, College Students Employment Guidance Center, Student Financial Aid Management Centre, Students' Mental Health Education and Consultation Center. Armed Forces Department and Students Office are co-located. Under the leadership of director, the above seven institutions, with both division and cooperation, co-complete the nearly 20,000 school students' ideological and political education and administrative affairs management to serve the growth and success of students.

 

Students' Ideological Education Office,

1. Responsible for carrying out ideological and political education work and subject education activities;

2. Responsible for the arrangement and implementation of students' network ideological and political work;

3. Responsible for construction of counselors group;

4. Responsible for the collection and report of students ' ideological trend;

5. Cooperating with relevant departments to carry out quality-oriented education and contribute to campus's cultural and ideological progress;

6. Responsible for the management of the course “Situation and Policy”.

 

 

Students' Mental Health Education and Consultation Center,

1. Responsible for conducting psychological test for new students and establishing files for students’ mental health;

2. Responsible for psychological counseling and guidance work;

3. Responsible for conducting psychological research and doing the work of publicity and education about students’ mental health;

4. Responsible for curriculum construction of College Students ' Psychological Health Education;

5. Responsible for crisis intervention and network construction;

6. Guiding the secondary colleges to conduct mental health education;

 

 

Student Management Office

1. Responsible for the implementation of the school day-to-day management and paramilitary management of students of Merchant Marine College;

2. Responsible for day-to-day management of the whole university and the implementation of daily regime;

3. Assisting the leader in charge to advance the study atmosphere construction;

4. Responsible for day-to-day assessment of student work;

5. Responsible for the management of school roll and doing good work of dropping out, transferring, suspension of schooling, dropout rehabilitation, etc;

6. Responsible for disciplinary handling of students;

7. Responsible for data statistical work of student data of all types of students;

8. Responsible for asset management of Students Office and Armed Forces Department.

 

 

The Admissions Office

1. Responsible for the enrollment in undergraduate and higher vocational education under the leadership of the director in charge;

2. Responsible for formulating annual total scale and enrollment plans which differentiate different provinces and municipalities and majors and then assigning enrollment plans;

3. Responsible for formulating admission policies, detailed rules and admission approaches;

4. Responsible for propaganda, consultation and preparation work of enrollment;

5. Responsible for the examination affairs and admission of students by recommendation, Art candidates, students for fall admission, students graduating from three types of schools and students from junior college to undergraduate diploma;

6. Responsible for coordinating the matriculation work of new students, reviewing their qualification and making summaries about enrollment, etc.

 

 

College Students Employment Guidance Center

1. Responsible for expanding the employment market and making close contact with employing units in society;

2. Responsible for comprehensive arrangement of enterprise teach-in and “two-way choice” recruitment fairs, etc.

3. Responsible for coordinating with relevant departments to do good work of graduates dispatch.

4. Responsible for dealing with the leftover problem of graduates and reporting annual employment adjustment plan to superior departments in charge;

5. Responsible for overall arrangement of the work of career development education of graduates;

6. Responsible for the management of the course “Occupational Planning”.

7. Responsible for the login, maintenance, statistics, analysis, and reporting of the employment data;

8. Responsible for handling report cards of graduates dispatch and the settlement of Shanghai students, etc.

 

 

Financial Aid Management Centre,

1. Responsible for evaluation, auditing, publicity and distribution of all types of Student Awards and maintenance grant inside and outside school;

2. Responsible for examination and determination of financially difficult collegians and do the good work of auditing and issuing of subsidies and fee remission for financially difficult collegians;

3. Responsible for student loans, payment confirmation, insurance and claim setting.

4. Responsible for work-study system.

 

 

Dormitory Management Office

1. Organizing and coordinating each college to develop Ideological and cultural construction of students’ dormitory.

2. Responsible for the evaluation of students ' dormitory;

3. Responsible for the management of security education of students ' dormitory;

4. Instructing the community counselors to work;

5. Instructing, coordinating and assessing the routine management of administration section of students’ dormitory.  

 

 

Armed Forces Department

1. Responsible for military service work (including law enforcement examination of military service, inspection of military service card, the work of reserve, etc.)

2. Responsible for the work during the course of military training;

3. Responsible for conscription work;

4. Responsible for work of the Civil Defense Office;

5. Responsible for the double-support work.
